Movie Night: Forks Over Knives
May 25, 2013 – 1:13 pm
UC-VEG is excited to kick-off with this year’s event schedule with a free screening of what many consider to be one of the most important documentaries of our times on the topic of health and nutrition …or, in Roger Ebert’s words, “a film that can save your life.” Please join us for:
“Forks Over Knives”
“Forks Over Knives” presents a revolutionary, yet simple remedy for the many diseases that plague our nation: consider what’s on your fork, and avoid the cost of going under the knife. While many of us are aware of the benefits of a plant-based diet, this movie presents the abundant and conclusive scientific evidence to back it all up. We’re hoping to reach as many people as we can with this very important message, which the movie eloquently presents in a non-intrusive way (**see below a brief synopsis).
One year ago, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn (one of the featured doctors in Forks Over Knives) gave a powerfully compelling presentation to a group of 700 in Medford, in which he stated with vibrant enthusiasm “we are on the cusp of a seismic revolution in health”. With a turnout like that (for a medical lecture no-less), it would have been difficult to deny that a big change has been taking place (especially considering there were many MD’s from local hospitals present in the audience). I imagine that many of you would agree with Dr. Esselstyn as we witness this revolution unfolding before our very eyes.
If you feel so inspired, we invite you to have an active hand in ushering this very positive and hopeful message to our community and to those we care about. How? One great way to help would be to help us spread the word by handing out bill-fold flyers, or by posting poster-sized ads at locations that you routinely visit around Douglas County. Needless to say, please feel free to invite family, friends, neighbors (vegetarian or not ), or anyone who is remotely concerned with their health.
Thanks for your kind support, and we’ll look forward to seeing you there.
Proudly serving gourmet coffee & espresso. Quality blends & local friends.
